THECLA BODEWES SHIPYARDS SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED 7.280DWT VESSEL 'VERTOM ANETTE' TO VERTOM GROUP
05/06/2024
[Kampen. 04.06.2024] Thecla Bodewes Shipyards is proud to announce the successful delivery of MV Vertom Anette to the Vertom Group. This 7,280 dwt LABRAX vessel is the fifth in a series of 12 vessels for the Vertom Group to be completed by Thecla Bodewes Shipyards.
The long-standing collaboration between the Vertom Group, renowned for its commitment to quality, reliability and innovation in the marine sector, and Thecla Bodewes Shipyards, recognised for its expertise in shipbuilding, has resulted in the MV Vertom Anette, a vessel that exemplifies the highest standards of maritime engineering and design.
Just four days after the completion of the technical trials in the North Sea, MV Vertom Anette was officially handed over to Vertom Group. A prime example of efficient cooperation between shipowner, shipyard and suppliers. The crew's experience with the Labrax vessels already in service was fed back to the shipyard, allowing improvements to be made to make the vessels even more efficient so that they can be used to their full potential.
Equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system, MV Vertom Anette incorporates state-of-the-art technology to ensure maximum fuel efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability. Her advanced design optimizes performance while reducing environmental impact, in line with the industry's evolving sustainability goals.
The MV Vertom Anette, part of the Labrax series, was designed by Thecla Bodewes Shipyards and Groot Ship Design specifically for an electric propulsion system. The Labrax series marks an important milestone in the development of sustainable shipping solutions and is therefore fully in line with the ambitions of both the Vertom Group and Thecla Bodewes Shipyards to make a significant contribution to the transition to an emission free shipping industry.
The diesel-electric propulsion system on board MV Vertom Anette, combined with the advanced power management system, minimizes energy losses, reduces overall fuel consumption and reduces CO2 emissions. This desired result has already been proven in the performance of the first four newbuildings, MV Vertom Patty, MV Vertom Cyta, MV Vertom Tomma and MV Vertom Anne Marit. In addition, the installed propulsion power on board the MV Vertom Anette is significantly lower compared to vessels with the same cargo capacity and conventional propulsion. With a length of 118.60m, a breadth of 14.30m and a full-box cargo hold of 329,700 cuft , the Labrax 7.280dwt offers competitive transport solutions.
MV Vertom Anette embodies the innovative spirit and technical excellence that Thecla Bodewes Shipyards is renowned for. Equipped with the latest navigation systems, energy-efficient propulsion system, and environmentally friendly features, MV Vertom Anette is designed to set new standards in operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.
The handing over ceremony took place in Harlingen seaport with representatives of both companies attending.
"Today, we celebrate not just the delivery of a new vessel, but the dedication, expertise, and passion of our entire team. This vessel again represents the pinnacle of modern shipbuilding, combining advanced technology, superior craftsmanship, and sustainable practices," says Thecla Bodewes, CEO of Thecla Bodewes Shipyards. "We are honored to partner with Vertom, a company that shares our vision for a sustainable and efficient maritime future. This vessel is a testament to what can be achieved when two industry leaders come together with a common goal".
"The addition of MV Vertom Anette is another step towards a younger and more sustainable fleet for Vertom. We are very pleased with the overall performance of the vessels, which is even better than previously calculated," says Arjan de Jong, CEO of Vertom Group. "The cooperation between Thecla Bodewes Shipyards and all Dutch maritime suppliers is going extremely well and is an example of the importance of Dutch expertise in shipbuilding, and we are looking forward to the next seven vessels."
The successful delivery of MV Vertom Anette underlines the joint efforts of the Vertom Group and Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in shaping the future of maritime transportation. With its innovative features and commitment to sustainability, this vessel, together with her sister vessels, sets a new standard in the industry.
